With the emergence of AI into mainstream personal computing and data processing, together with expert predictions of both great benefits and also dire consequences of its unrestricted use, it seems desirable to have a basic understanding of AI and its potential.

In this talk John aims to provide such an understanding by looking at the nature of human and artificial intelligence, examining the developments in AI to date and considering its likely future direction. In doing so he will look at some of facts and myths of current AI capability, and consider what its potential, for good and bad, really is.
