Talk by Jonathan Hutchinson who sailed across The Atlantic at the age of 89
Jonathan Hutchinson is a great grandson of the founder of Haslemere Museum. After Fernden Preparatory School and Marlborough College, he spent 33 years in the RAF as a fighter pilot, flying instructor and Whitehall staffer.
First venturing to sea in a small boat in 1940, he formed a lifelong enthusiasm for sailing, which led in 2023 to his two sons inviting him to join them in his 90th year to sail across the Atlantic.
This talk is an account of the 1,500-mile passage from Plymouth to Las Palmas, followed by the 3,000-mile ocean crossing from there to St Lucia.
