Surrey Day celebrates the county and encourages locals to find out more about where they live and work

Plans have been announced for the seventh annual Surrey Day, which will take place on Saturday 10 May 2025.

The event aims to celebrate the county and encourages locals to find out more about where they live and work.

Surrey Day is a partnership between BBC Radio Surrey, Visit Surrey and the Surrey Lieutenancy and next year's theme will be the role that Surrey played during World War Two.

Mark Carter, deputy managing editor of BBC South and founder of Surrey Day, said: "The second Saturday of May each year is now a firm fixture in the diary for so many people and I can’t wait to get the party started!”

The theme for 2025 coincides with the 80th anniversary of VE Day and there will be a special radio series as part of the commemorations.

A secondary theme for the day is 'take the lead', which encourages people to get outside and walk in the Surrey countryside.

Every year the local community is at the core of the event.

Chair of Visit Surrey Christine Howard said: “We’re also seeing more cafes, restaurants, plus museums and other local attractions all getting involved and lending their support.”

Surrey Day 2024 had the theme of Surrey from the Sky and included radio shows from Birdworld in Farnham and Brooklands Museum in Woking.
