Music is a powerful form of human communication. However, the way that it connects to us is hard to describe as (unlike painting or literature) it doesn’t deal with images of the everyday world.

This interactive talk will introduce ideas of how we can talk about and understand music as a language, with the use of copious musical illustrations (recordings and on the piano) and a good deal of discussion.
