This week, 12 year old Phoebe delivered multiples bags of groceries to the Haslemere Food Bank thanks to her fundraising efforts over the school holidays.

Phoebe goes to Woolmer Hill School and heads into year 8 next week. Phoebe told us that she 'wanted to raise money for the food bank because it's a difficult time over the holidays for families who have a free school meal.' And, as she has always loved a treasure hunt, she combined her passion for helping others with her passion for problem solving!

Instead of putting her feet up this Summer, she came up with the brilliant idea of organising a family-friendly hunt through Polecat Valley to raise funds for the Haslemere Food Bank

Various clues along the way enabled those who took part to solve a puzzle. Each clue would lead to a letter, and when put together, these letters spelt out a missing word. Those that successfully completed the challenge could then make their way back to the starting point on Lion Lane to collect a prize. With the weather so warm, Phoebe also sold iced lollies to keep everyone nice and cool.

Phoebe raised an incredible £76. Huge thanks to Phoebe for her generosity and to all those that supported her.

Jo Mackay, Chair of the Haslemere Food Bank, said, 'We are so grateful to Phoebe for her fundraising efforts. The groceries she purchased filled a number of gaps on our shelves. All the volunteers at the food bank loved the creativity that Phoebe showed in her fundraising efforts. Such a brilliant idea.'

The This is Haslemere team have heard on the grapevine that Phoebe has more fundraising plans for the October half term so watch this space!

Well done Phoebe!
