Haslemere Swimming Club is seeking a new treasurer

Haslemere Swimming Club is one of Haslemere's most popular and successful sports clubs. Its aim is to promote swimming in Surrey by providing a competitive swimming programme alongside a structured teaching plan.  All their swimmers are encouraged to fulfil their swimming potential with competitive training programmes up to international standard.


They run a ‘Swimming Academy’ programme with swimming lessons on a Saturday evening as well as a growing Masters Swimming Squad. All members are valued and encouraged to work together to achieve their goals in a fun and caring environment.


As with so many of our local sporting groups, the club depends on its volunteers. Haslemere Swimming Club are currently in search of a new treasurer.  They're looking for a dedicated and skilled individual to welcome to the team to help ensure the financial health and success of the club. Position: Treasurer Role Overview


The Treasurer is a key member of the leadership team at Haslemere Swimming Club, responsible for managing the club’s financial affairs. This includes overseeing the club’s financial planning, record-keeping, and reporting, as well as handling payroll duties for coaches, staff, and other personnel. The Treasurer ensures that the club’s financial operations are conducted efficiently, transparently, and in compliance with relevant regulations.


Key Responsibilities


●  Financial Management: Develop and oversee the club’s budget, ensuring that all financial activities align with the club’s goals and priorities.

●  Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including income, expenditures, and other financial transactions.

●  Reporting: Prepare and present regular financial reports to the club’s board and membership, highlighting key financial metrics and trends.

●  Payroll Management: Handle all aspects of payroll for coaches, staff, and other personnel, including processing payments, maintaining payroll records, and ensuring compliance with tax and regulatory requirements.

●  Fundraising: Collaborate with the club’s leadership team to identify fundraising opportunities, including grants, sponsorships, and community events.

●  Compliance: Ensure that the club complies with all relevant financial regulations and reporting requirements.

●  Audit Preparation: Facilitate the preparation and completion of annual audits and address any audit findings orrecommendations.

●  Financial Advice: Provide financial advice and guidance to the club’s board and members, helping to informdecision-making and strategic planning.Qualifications

●  Experience in financial management, accounting, or a related field, preferably within a non-profit or amateur sports organisation.

●  Understanding of payroll processes and regulations.

●  Excellent organisational and record-keeping skills.

●  Proficiency in financial software and tools.

●  Strong communication and presentation skills.

●  Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of volunteers and staff.

●  Commitment to the mission and values of Haslemere Swimming Club.


Time Commitment


The Treasurer position is a volunteer role that requires regular attendance at club meetings and events. The Treasurer should be able to dedicate sufficient time to fulfil the responsibilities of the role, including periodic reviews of the club’s financial status and participation in fundraising activities.
