About

Haslemere Museum has three large permanent galleries and two temporary exhibit rooms as well as a library, archive and a dedicated education room. It displays over 240,000 natural history specimens, along with over 140,000 human history artefacts from around the world. The grounds of the museum cover an area of over 15,000 square metres. The grounds are home to a large pond and gazebo, an observation beehive and a tree trail that follows the museum's boundary through an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Their mission statement is 'to forward and advance the study of science, literature and the fine arts by means of a well-equipped museum of natural history and objects of art and of a scientific, literary and historical nature.' Admission is free but a voluntary donation is suggested. The museum galleries and grounds are open from Tuesdays to Saturdays between 10 am and 4.30 pm. The museum library is open on Tuesdays between 10 am and 3 pm.

Help Needed

Do you have a love and a passion for Haslemere's local museum and have time to volunteer as a Trustee?

This year we are celebrating 100 years on the High Street and Haslemere Educational Museum is looking to expand its team of enthusiastic and friendly Trustees.

Trustees attend 6 Board Meetings a year, an annual strategy day and may also be required to serve on one of the sub-committees of the Board.

Trustees are also expected to play a part in fund-raising and to function as ‘ambassadors’ for the Museum.

We are looking to recruit trustees in the following areas of expertise:

• Marketing and Fundraising

• Human Resources

• Financial Strategy and Management

• Equality Diversity and Inclusion

The Board of Trustees is responsible for ensuring that Haslemere Educational Museum is run sustainably and in accordance with its vision and aims. All Trustees have a key role in developing strategy for the Museum’s long-term future.

If you have other expertise that is not listed above, please do still contact us so we can consider your skills set for future vacancies and volunteering.

If you’d just like to find out more and meet up to talk through the role please look at the Haslemere Education Museum website under the vacancies section, to see a role description of a Trustee or contact the museum via secretary@haslemeremuseum.co.uk
