Here's how Haslemere Bookshop celebrated Bookshop Day in their own words!

"Bookshop Day is a celebration of the UK's highstreet bookshops, obviously we're a bit biased but we believe that bookshops are more than just a lovely addition to a town or village, they also play vital roles in their local communities such as:

-Raising money for local charities and food banks. We were able to donate over £200 from our takings to The Hunter Centre on Bookshop Day, and our Christmas Gift Drive with the  Food Bank has begun! We will match 20% of money raised to ensure that everyone has access to a book this Christmas.

-Providing books to local schools. We work with local schools to provide books for a variety of events at a discounted price, and visit schools on World Book Day to hand out bookshop funded books!

- Playing an active role in connecting those in the community. We've seen many friendships fostered in our book group, one of which has been going on for 5 years now!

Thank you to everyone who visited us on Bookshop Day! We simply wouldn't be here without your support, and feel extremely privileged to be your local bookshop."
