Following the massive amount of interest in our recent interview with Joe and Lynne Poulter about the history of Shottermill, we wanted to let you know about an upcoming event at the Haslemere Museum.

This March, the Haslemere Museum will host a drop-in Memorabilia Show and Tell. They would love people to come along to share objects (and photos and documents) relating to either Haslemere's past, their family history, or childhood memories.

The museum are sure that many people will have special objects on display at home, but if you have other interesting ones languishing in attics and cupboards, they would love you to dig them out and share any related stories with them.

At the event, and with your permission, museum staff will take a photo of people holding their object and will note down stories relating to the object. Just to be clear, they're not asking you to donate objects to the museum at this event! So don't worry. You will definitely get to take your objects away with you. They'd just like to collate a history of Haslemere and its residents using some of the items you happen to have in your homes.

The Museum are also currently on the look-out for local historical photos. They're particularly keen to find internal house shots from the past that show how homes and domestic lives have changed, external photos of homes and streets that provide clues to changes in local residential areas, and interior photos of local shops that no longer exist. Please do get in touch with the museum if you can help.

The event will take place on 21st March between 10.30 and 1.00.

For more information, kindly contact Lois at community@haslemeremuseum.co.uk. Alternatively, please just go along on the 21st with your item.
