An 'Enterprising Women' series of business workshops are currently being rolled out across the region. Each session will explore key topics that women in business consistently identify as both essential and challenging. The programme will cover common challenges for female founders. These include finance, marketing, AI and emerging technologies, social media, and practical start‑up guidance. Each workshop will be delivered in depth by sector specialists.
The first two workshops have already taken place in Godalming and Farnham respectively. These were delivered by Liana Fricker from Inspiration Space and Tracey Carter from the Surrey Networked Women. These were sell out events so if you're keen to attend future sessions, it is worth signing up sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment.
The exciting news is that the third event will be in Haslemere. Held on 19 June at the Coppa Club between 10 and 12, this session is entitled, 'Build your Brand, Grow your Business.' It is being led by Fay Sharpe OBE. Fay is a prominent British entrepreneur, philanthropist, and champion for gender equality within the events, travel, and hospitality industries. She is best known as the founder of Fast Forward 15 (FF15), an award-winning, not-for-profit mentoring initiative dedicated to supporting and empowering women in business.
The fourth and final session will then be at the Cranleigh Arts Centre on 15 September and will look at how best to elevate your B2B sales with Kat Rack at Selling Savvy.
These workshops are part of Waverley’s wider commitment to fostering a supportive environment for female entrepreneurs - an area where the borough already has a strong foundation.
Waverley are also looking to raise awareness of other free business services available to female entrepreneurs. These include IncuHive’s business support services. The IncuHive Group is an organisation which offers business support, mentoring, start‐up investment, networking, training, office space, and desk space. In addition, Waverley are keen to signpost women in business to the free online training available via Seedl. Best described as a, 'virtual live learning subscription service,' you can choose between either 60-minute webinars or 20 minute ‘micro’ sessions to fit in with your schedule. The free training sessions cover a range of subjects including sales, customer services, mental wellness, leadership and more. Last but not least, Waverley are also highlighting the online support offered by the Natwest Women in Business initiative.
