Looking for work? Secure your space at the Job Club today

A new Job Club is coming to Haslemere for the first time. Launching this April, and completely free to join, participants will get to enjoy 8 weeks of support, helping them to get back into the workplace or to find employment for the first time.

National statistics dominating recent news show that this kind of support is needed now more than ever. UK unemployment in the last quarter of 2025 rose to 5.2%, the highest rate in nearly five years, with 1.88 million people unemployed in the UK. Within this, young people have been hit particularly hard. Youth unemployment (16-24 year olds) hit 16.1% over the same period, the highest in over a decade.

The good news is that this eight-week CAP Job Club course will give attendees all the tools they will need to find work. This includes writing a CV and cover letter that employers won't be able to resist, to brushing up on those all-important interview skills. As well as group support, those joining the course will also enjoy one-on-one support too. Everyone attending will get their own Job Club Coach who will spend time helping you set and achieve your personal goals, identifying and tackling any areas you are struggling with.

Not only that, the organisers are also busy speaking to local businesses and organisations in the hope that they can help open the doors to people finding employment at the end of the 8 week course.

The club is being organised and run by trained, local, volunteers who lived in Haslemere and who understand the challenges people are currently facing when looking for work. This is Haslemere spent the morning with Ben and Lee, two of the volunteers who are busy putting together the finishing touches ready for April. It's so clear that they really want everyone to succeed. They told us that, 'Being unemployed can be hard to navigate on your own, but being part of one of our job clubs means you face the challenge with other people in similar situations. It's an opportunity to meet local like-minded people, while gaining the skills and support you need to find a job you'll love.'

They are well aware that the Job Club is likely to have a broad appeal. 'Whether you're a recent school leaver who just can't decide what you want to do in life, a graduate unable to secure your first job, have recently been made redundant, or are perhaps going back into work after a career break to look after children - you're all welcome and all will receive the support you need.

The club will take place weekly over a 2 month period, commencing on 14 April. Each session will take place on a Tuesday morning from 10 until 12 at the Haslemere Methodist Church.

Spaces are limited so, if you're keen to secure a space, we recommend you sign up soon to avoid missing out.
