More medals for Haslemere's teen swimming star
2025 finished with another flurry of success for one of Halsemere’s most promising young sports stars. Freya Gordon competed at National Winter Swimming events in both Sheffield and Swansea, where she won 6 medals (4 gold and 2 bronze), taking her national medal tally for the year to a staggering 12.
Freya, a Year 11 student at Woolmer Hill, balances her studies with a rigorous training programme at Haslemere Swimming Club, which includes sessions both before and after school, along with strength and conditioning sessions in the gym. Under the guidance of Hasemere Swimming Club’s head coach, Andy Snelling, Freya has had a phenomenal year and is now looking forward to making her International debut in Geneva later this month. In April, she will also compete at the British National Championsips in London.
Alongside her training in Haslemere, Freya makes regular trips to Swansea, to the Swim Wales National Pool, where she trains with Olympians and World Champions. Her selection for the Welsh National Squad this season is credit to her hard work and acheivemenst in the 2024/25 season. We’re very excited to see what comes next for Freya as she continues to impress in the pool.
