Haslemere Festival Compositions

1) Dolmetsch Festival Centenary Composition

Clive was keen to be involved with The Dolmetsch Festival Centenary and has composed Concert Variations for mixed recorder ensemble. Written for the acclaimed professional quartet Palisander and a supporting recorder ensemble, the piece unfolds over a 16-bar theme through four inventive variations. Scored for a range of recorder types, the variations include a graceful minuet and conclude with a lively gigue. It’s a brilliantly crafted composition that brings together professionals and skilled ensemble players in a rich musical dialogue. Adrian Stent, Haslemere Festival Programme Director told This is Haslemere:

“The Dolmetsch Family and the original Haslemere Festival they created in 1925 are a key part of Haslemere history and we are delighted to be celebrating their contribution and legacy with our Dolmetsch Festival Centenary weekend. Clive Osgood is our local star composer and supports so many musical organisations and events in Haslemere. We are honoured that Clive has composed a special piece to mark the Centenary, and that it will be performed by amateur and professional musicians together, in the spirit of the Dolmetsch Festival, during our celebration weekend.”
