The trust, formed under the umbrella of Haslemere Community Station, is the driving force of the signal box preservation project, the proposed railway memorial garden and the growing collection of railwayana assembled by members and destined for future public display.
The trust works closely with Network Rail, South Western Railway and the Community Rail Network.
Formal recognition by the Charity Commission was announced on Monday, 16 December 2024.
The Haslemere Signal Box and Museum are now open. This marks a key moment in the campaign by Haslemere Signal Box Educational CIO (the Trust) not only to save the box but to create a new visitor attraction for Haslemere.
It's also good news for local people seeking opportunities to volunteer: either public-facing or behind the scenes. Railway knowledge/expertise is of course an advantage, but not essential.
