Haslemere Info Hub – Your first stop in our lovely town

Whether you're visiting the town or just passing through, drop in to see us when you get off your train in Haslemere!

You might like to know that Haslemere is the highest station on the Portsmouth Line, and the southernmost town in Surrey!
The town dates from the 13th century, but most of what you can see today was built after the arrival of the railway in 1859.

Our friendly and knowledgeable team of volunteers will gladly answer all your questions about what to do, where to go and how to get there. And they have plenty of free literature, including leaflets and maps, to help you plan your time in the area.

Haslemere Info Hub is staffed by volunteers and is open as much as possible on weekdays and at weekends, especially from May to October.*

It offers tourism advice, helping you to make the most of your time in the area. It also showcases local social and sporting events and businesses.

In addition to ensuring you a warm welcome, our volunteers keep the station looking good by maintaining the flower beds on the platforms.

Situated in an annexe to the Victorian station building, the Hub is prominent on the station forecourt – affording easy access for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists. If we are closed, our outdoor display provides 24/7 information about the town and its surroundings. If you arrive with a bike please see information about where to lock your bike up at the station and around Haslemere
here.

The station is also served by buses to Guildford, Midhurst, Farnham, Alton and Aldershot.

*Opening is subject to volunteer availability. New volunteers are always welcome.

Volunteer with us!

Our friendly volunteers are local people who enjoy sharing their enthusiasm for Haslemere and the surrounding area.
To be a volunteer all you need is the ability to fill two-hour slots at the Info Hub to give visitors a warm and cheerful welcome with maps, guidebooks and leaflets, and answer any questions they may have. (Don't worry, you don't have to know all the answers!)

As an Info Hub volunteer you have the opportunity to help the local economy by directing visitors to local attractions and businesses – especially shops, restaurants and pubs. But, most of all, your welcome should make people want to visit Haslemere again – and recommend us to their friends.

The more volunteers, the better the service: please join the team today!
If you would like to volunteer with us please use this
contact form to get in touch.

Haslemere Info Hub is the public face of Haslemere Community Station – part of the Surrey Hills to South Downs Community Rail Partnership.

The CRP promotes the area served by stations at Farncombe, Godalming, Milford, Witley and Haslemere as gateways to the South Downs National Park and the Surrey Hills – and the many attractions between them that are within easy reach of the railway line.

The partnership involves local and regional organisations working with South Western Railway, with guidance from the Community Rail Network.

Interview with Ian Rowley, owner of The Haslemere Bookshop The Haslemere Bookshop is an independent bookshop at the heart of Haslemere High Street selling new and second-hand books, and cards. Did you face any challenges when setting up the business? There has been a bookshop on the High Street for many years. When I took over the shop from Ronald Timms in 2014, I had no idea how a bookshop worked; fortunately the staff (all friends or family) did! Since then, through their hard work, the business has been transformed. Not only does the shop look very different but we are online, more community focussed and our second-hand book section rejuvenated.
