Friendly, local accountancy practice

Limelight Accountancy started in 1993 to provide accountancy services to smaller businesses

Doug Hutton is Director and Practice Manager of Limelight as well as Practice Manager of DNS Accountancy’s Cornwall Branch. Doug has been with Limelight since 2010 and has previously run his own businesses within the hospitality and consulting sectors and is an avid supporter of the self-employed and helping his clients make the most out of their businesses.

In 2016 Limelight became a subsidiary of DNS Associates. Until recently most mainstream accountancy firms were only interested in larger audit clients. We saw there was a niche for accountants specialising in small owner-managed businesses – sole traders, partnerships, or small limited companies.

Building up our own firm has given us a practical insight of what it is like to start and run a small business. We know what you are going through, as we have experienced it ourselves.

At Limelight we focus on helping small, owner-managed businesses. Our clients provide goods and services in a variety of industry sectors and include subcontractors and the self-employed.

Our comprehensive set of services are tailored to our clients’ requirements and our approach is friendly and flexible. We will take care of your accountancy needs, from start-up to final accounts, including bookkeeping, VAT, payroll and Self-Assessment tax returns.

Interview with Ian Rowley, owner of The Haslemere Bookshop The Haslemere Bookshop is an independent bookshop at the heart of Haslemere High Street selling new and second-hand books, and cards. Did you face any challenges when setting up the business? There has been a bookshop on the High Street for many years. When I took over the shop from Ronald Timms in 2014, I had no idea how a bookshop worked; fortunately the staff (all friends or family) did! Since then, through their hard work, the business has been transformed. Not only does the shop look very different but we are online, more community focussed and our second-hand book section rejuvenated.
