Meet Gemma

Mar 16, 2021

Hi I am Gemma

I qualified as a personal trainer in 2005 having been inspired by my own weight loss journey after university and regaining my direction in life. I was so inspired by the tutors that I learnt from and I knew it was the right career path for me, I was excited about being able to help people to reach their goals and feel good about themselves.

While training clients in a London gym I also gained qualifications in Boxercise, Pilates, Aerobics & Spinning and loved teaching those classes too. I set up my own business when I realised how many people don't like the gym environment and I loved training clients in their own homes where they felt comfortable and able to be themselves.

When looking for my next challenge I took on a position as a trainer of personal trainers & then a teaching development manager with Lifetime Training which allowed me to still teach my private clients but also teach others to be personal trainers which was hugely rewarding.

Following the birth of my children I decided to prioritise my own business and having trained as a deep tissue sports masseuse I wanted to be able to offer both personal training & massage to private clients. Moving to Haslemere and meeting other mums who manage to juggle careers and family I found the confidence to launch my business here and I have been thrilled with how successful it has become.

If like me, you are a parent to young children or time is limited in your daily life, it is easy to neglect the most important aspects of your personal wellbeing. I fundamentally believe that despite the time pressures, prioritising regular exercise, healthy eating and massage are important to ensuring a health body and positive state of mind.

As the founder of Gem|Wellbeing, our aim is simple - to provide the knowledge and motivation you need in order to fulfil your goals and objectives at a time and place that is convenient to you.

Need to get a handle on your nutrition and fitness, solve that niggling injury or you’ve just become a new parent seeking fun, exercise and new friends? We would love to hear from you.

Interview with Ian Rowley, owner of The Haslemere Bookshop The Haslemere Bookshop is an independent bookshop at the heart of Haslemere High Street selling new and second-hand books, and cards. Did you face any challenges when setting up the business? There has been a bookshop on the High Street for many years. When I took over the shop from Ronald Timms in 2014, I had no idea how a bookshop worked; fortunately the staff (all friends or family) did! Since then, through their hard work, the business has been transformed. Not only does the shop look very different but we are online, more community focussed and our second-hand book section rejuvenated.
