Weyhill in Bloom

enhancing weyhill and junction place through the planting of flowers

Weyhill in Bloom is a group of volunteers whose aim is to enhance the the areas of Wey Hill and Junction Place in Haslemere.

What they do:

Ever stopped by the Tescos traffic lights and wondered who’s responsible for all the beautiful flowers pouring out of the troughs? It’s Weyhill in Bloom we have to thank for over 35 stunning hanging-baskets, troughs and bay tree planters dotted up and down Wey Hill and Junction Place. Their busy team work throughout the year, but particularly in the summer months when the pots need planting up, watering and dead-heading to keep them lasting longer.

How they work:

Weyhill in Bloom create and tend the floral displays around Wey Hill and Junction Place. During the drier Spring and Summer months, a team of volunteers are needed to water these twice a week. They also need volunteers to help with planting and dead heading of flowers.

How to help:

Ken Griffiths heads up a team of volunteers and can be contacted via their (Ken Griffiths heads up a team of volunteers and can be contacted via their (very colourful) Facebook page. Even if you just have the odd 10 minutes to spare, a lot of flowers can be dead-headed in that time!

Since then, through their hard work, the business has been transformed. Not only does the shop look very different but we are online, more community focussed and our second-hand book section rejuvenated.
