The Fernhurst Hub is a community education hub, resource centre and cafe. It's a volunteer run meeting place, coffee shop and retail space offering leisure, learning and events for all the community right in the heart of the village of Fernhurst. It was set up to benefit the residents of Fernhurst and the surrounding area.


The Fernhurst Hub boasts a village cafe serving drinks, cakes and snacks. It also offers business services. There is super fast fibre optic broadband and access to computers, laminating equipment, printers and copying facilities. Language and IT courses are offered along with craft workshops and more. it is possible hire the main room (capacity of 28) as well as a smaller meeting room (capacity of 12). The hub also sells gifts, eco friendly products and stationary including cards and calendars.


How they work:


The Fernhurst Hub is run by residents for residents. They have an array of activities on offer from children's activities to topical talks, language lessons, workshops, bridge lessons, music lessons and more.


The Fernhurst Hub is open from 10 am until 4 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. On Wednesdays it is open from 10 am until 1 pm. On Saturday it is open from 10 am until 12 noon. It is closed on Sundays.

How to help:


A Board of Trustees oversees of all the Fernhurst Hub’s activities. The Trustees contribute a great deal to the day-to-day running of the Hub.


Volunteer roles include behind the counter duties helping with sales, cafe service, answering the phone or visitor enquiries. Support can also be given in other ways. The Hub works with  volunteers to find the role that best suits them. Those taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh scheme can also be accommodated. All volunteers will receive the necessary training and undergo an induction process prepared and delivered by or under the supervision of the Hub Manager.
