Haslemere Youth Hub

Feb 14, 2021

Charity youth community centre for preschoolers through to teens and young adults.

The Haslemere Youth Hub is a charity run organisation bringing services to pre-schoolers through to teens and young adults.

How they work:

The Haslemere Youth Hub is home to four studios and four offices. The studios at the Haslemere Youth Hub are hired out by a wide variety of companies who put on a range of clubs for babies through to teens, all under one roof, seven days a week. These range from street dance, aerial silks, basketball, singing groups, mother and baby groups to football and much more. Affordable activities are also hosted for all ages during school holidays.

In addition, the hub has a children's counselling service - 'I'm all ears' - that runs voluntary bi-weekly sessions. They also run counselling sessions for groups including the NHS, Surrey Children's Services and Catch 22 out of the four offices at the hub.

For young parents, they have a baby weighing scale so that mums and dads can pop by and weight their baby free of charge.

A bustling café and children’s play area in the middle of the Haslemere Youth Hub is perfect for Mums, Dads and kids to enjoy before or after classes. It's also the perfect place to meet new people and make new friends in Haslemere.

Spaces are also available for hire for parties.

How to help:

The Haslemere Youth Hub would love some additional help from volunteers. Help with anything from web design to helping with grant applications and from cleaning to event organising is welcome. To cover their costs, the Haslemere Youth Hub aims to hold fundraising events each year so help from volunteers to help with fundraising would also be much appreciated.

As part of the work of the Haslemere Youth Hub, they run monthly support groups for teens, teens parents, twins and mothers. If you would like to speak at one of these free of charge, the Hub would also love to hear from you.

The Haslemere Youth Hub is a registered charity, no 5138727

Interview with Ian Rowley, owner of The Haslemere Bookshop The Haslemere Bookshop is an independent bookshop at the heart of Haslemere High Street selling new and second-hand books, and cards. Did you face any challenges when setting up the business? There has been a bookshop on the High Street for many years. When I took over the shop from Ronald Timms in 2014, I had no idea how a bookshop worked; fortunately the staff (all friends or family) did! Since then, through their hard work, the business has been transformed. Not only does the shop look very different but we are online, more community focussed and our second-hand book section rejuvenated.
