Love Haslemere Hate Waste

Love Haslemere Hate Waste is a behaviour change campaign, founded by Victoria (Tause) Page in 2019. Tause has a background in sustainable business strategy and communications and works with multinational businesses such as Pukka Herbs, Sky and Unilever to drive positive change. She set up Love Haslemere Hate Waste to put her experiences into practice and create a lasting positive impact. She is passionate about our town and loves all forms of outdoor exercise!

Love Haslemere Hate Waste

Love Haslemere Hate Waste exists to inspire and empower everyone in Haslemere to cut down waste and to make waste-free living the norm in Haslemere and beyond. The Love Haslemere Hate Waste team is filled with remarkable people who help to make our vision a reality. Tause works with an experienced Board including councillor Gary Lloyd, Ian Coghlan, Steve Ashby and Oliver Leach who work together to set the strategic vision for the charity. The Board is supported by a stellar cast of volunteers who manage the social channels, plan events and spread the word about our work. They are Lucy James, Kate Horner, Sarah Secker-Barker, Sarah Bray, Harriet Hite, Tessa Day, Christy Tilney.... if you'd like to join us, please drop us a line!

We've also been working on a new strategy and here are some excerpts:

  • We think waste is what we make when we use too much of anything or throw it away
  • Waste-free living is taking actions and decisions every day to reduce our waste, until we can’t make less
  • Love Haslemere Hate Waste is our campaign to inspire and empower everyone in Haslemere to cut down waste
  • Our Vision is for waste-free living to be the norm in Haslemere and beyond.

Interview with Ian Rowley, owner of The Haslemere Bookshop The Haslemere Bookshop is an independent bookshop at the heart of Haslemere High Street selling new and second-hand books, and cards. Did you face any challenges when setting up the business? There has been a bookshop on the High Street for many years. When I took over the shop from Ronald Timms in 2014, I had no idea how a bookshop worked; fortunately the staff (all friends or family) did! Since then, through their hard work, the business has been transformed. Not only does the shop look very different but we are online, more community focussed and our second-hand book section rejuvenated.
